Snoring: Healthy or Unhealthy?
Snoring is the result of vibration of soft tissue structures in the throat. While it can be quite loud, some snoring is healthy, as long as there is enough air passing through the airway. However, sometimes snoring can be unhealthy. Take the questionnaire to see if your snoring or your loved one’s snoring is unhealthy.
The Snore Shop is a clinic that tests for and treats those with Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB). One common and serious manifestation is Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). We work very carefully with patients and their physicians to accurately test, treat and support those with SDB. We use the ARES, a device that fits on your head like a baseball cap, for our at-home sleep studies. Not only is this device accurate but it is more comfortable than ANY other sleep study devices, allowing you to get a better night’s sleep.
The Snore Shop is pleased to offer both medical and surgical solutions for snoring and sleep apnea. We are certified to work with those needing CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) therapy for obstructive sleep apnea. We follow our patients very closely, especially during their first month of treatment, in order to improve successful management. We then increase time between our visits to up to once every 3-6 months depending on how comfortable our patients are with their therapy. Follow up is crucial to becoming comfortable with a CPAP device and ensuring that it is effectively treating the sleep related breathing disorder.
In seeing our patients regularly we ensure that your CPAP therapy is working for you, improving your long term health and reducing your health risks.
We offer minimally invasive snoring surgery for those who qualify performed by trained board certified airway surgeons, including the Pillar Implant Procedure.
At Home Sleep Studies are available on a walk-in basis without a referral from your doctor. See our questionnaire if you are trying to decide if you need a study. You should always try to discuss matters with your physician or your dentist. Results will be forwarded to your family physician, dentist or specialist for review. Once you discuss those results with your health professional, they will be in a position to help you find solutions.
